The director Ghizlane Assif is shooting her first feature film Un Hiver Froid. It is set in and around Marrakech.

Produced by Houcine El Malki and written by Jalal Belouadi, the film is about Amal, who, after her husband’s suicide, sees strange visions and becomes convinced that her husband is not dead. On the advice of family and friends she talks to a doctor – who prescribes a stay in a psychiatric hospital.

Ghizlane Assif worked as editor on many programmes for the national 2M channel. In 2012 she won the Best Editing award at the Tangier National Film Festival for Aziz Saadallah’s Le Scenario. She has also directed several short films, including Par Amour (2006), Murmures de Vénus (2015) and Les 400 pages (2019). She also directed a documentary: L’Appel du Rupestre Land.

Her new film is part-financed by the Centre Cinématographique Marocain to the tune of 2,750,000 DH (€253,000).
