Candidates must submit a scenario dealing with the direct or indirect consequences of the quake. It should not exceed 30 pages while the final film should not exceed 30 minutes. The chosen projects will be given production assistance and financial support.

As a reminder, on March 22nd 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, a magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck the Croatian capital. Engraved in the memory of all Croatians, this disaster destroyed many buildings, killing one person and badly injuring many more. Two years later Zagreb Film has decided to look at the aftermath of this tragic event.

Zagreb Film is an important player in cinema history. In the 1950’s it developed its own style of abstract animated films, very different from Disney productions. These qualities were noticed by film historian Georges Sadoul who spoke of “the Zagreb school”, as well as by Hollywood, which awarded Dušan Vukotić’s Surogat an Oscar in 1961, the first foreign animated film thus honoured.

Registration closed on February 20th.

You will find all the information on Zagreb Film’s web-page.
