During an evening presentation of the schedules for Ramadan on Algeria’s public service broadcaster EPTV, the Minister of Communication, Mohamed Laâgab, underlined the importance for public media to broadcast quality programmes promoting “universal, family messages.”
Also present, EPTV’s Director General, Nadir Boukabes, reiterated the company’s commitment to a programme schedule which meets “public expectations while respecting the symbolism of the sacred month.”
He presented a wide diversity of programmes, with religious and historical programmes alongside comedy and drama. In particular he mentioned series reflecting the problems facing Algerian society, including the highly anticipated Intiqam Al-Zaman. This Algerian and Egyptian co-production is about a young woman desperately trying to find the organ traffickers who have kidnapped her son.
Among the comedy programmes Algerian television announced four sitcoms: Mayna, Académie Show, Alf Benna wa Benna and Caméra Café.
