Now in its 5th year, the Foça International Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Documentary Film Days (Foça Film Days) has opened its call for applications. The closing date is April 30th.
Foça Film Days is a documentary film festival focussing on archaeological heritage. The theme of this year’s event is “Change/Transformation”: “how and why humans initiate and respond to changes and transformations both in society and the natural world.” The organisers are looking for films “which document the changes during different historical periods and in different places around the world.”
Registration is open to documentary films made after December 31st 2015, with a maximum length of 70 minutes. More information is available on their page FilmFreeway.
This year Foça Film Days will run from October 5th to 9th in Turkey’s coastal city of Phocaea. The festival was created in 2018 to share the region’s history and unique natural setting while also raising awareness of local and global heritage. So in addition to screenings, exhibitions and workshops, the event is an opportunity to discover Phocaea’s archaeological heritage with guided tours.
