
Tunisian National Radio organises an annual competition for the best Tunisian programmes broadcast on television during Ramadan.
This year, the series El Matbaa won a total of 12 awards, including Best Series, Best Screenplay, and Best Director. The central character is a printing worker, Nejib, living with his wife who has Alzheimer’s. When their son is imprisoned for issuing bad cheques, Nejib finds himself in dire financial straits. To get out of this predicament he turns to forging bank notes.
Produced by the Tunisian Television Establishment and broadcast on Al Wataniya 1, El Matbaa has 10 episodes and was directed by Mehdi Hmili, who is known for two feature films Thala mon amour (2016) and Exil (2025).
In the soap opera category, the Best Short Series award was given to Zied Letiem’s Bab Bnet Sabria in the 70’s.
