The Spanish-based Enfoques Cultural Association, which organizes the Play-Doc international documentary film festival, is launching a new platform: VENTURA. Created for independent directors and producers, it wants to bring film industry professionals together around innovative national and international projects which show “a strong artistic vision of cinema.”
VENTURA offers a programme which includes professional training, development internships and seminars, both online and face-to-face. The organisers will present 10 selected film projects in development (5 Spanish and 5 international) during three sessions between December 2022 and March 2023.
The first session offers selected Spanish film-makers a five-day training course led by experts. It will help them develop their knowledge of financing, co-production, distribution, etc. Then these participants are invited to a one-week writing residency led by Marta Andreu, director, producer and academic director of the Creative Documentary Master at Barcelona’s Pompeu Fabra University. Finally, the Spanish and international film-makers will meet in-person for 3 days; they will present their projects to an audience of professionals including producers, distributors, funders and festival programmers. A jury will have the task of choosing the best projects, the main award will come with €10,000.
For those interested, VENTURA’s call for projects is open for Spanish submissions until October 28thand for international projects until January 20th 2023. Any film can be entered, regardless of its stage of development, genre or duration. All information is available on the platform’s website.
