Arte, the Franco-German channel, is preparing its new series “Cannabis”. The six 52-minute episodes will be directed by Lucie Borleteau. The series will follow cannabis trafficking through Morocco, Spain and France.
According to the newspaper Libération, “in the scenario the bosses and drug lords are given more air-time, rather than the police, leaving room for shock scenes.” In the same article, the director says she was inspired by the American series “The Wire” but “it won’t be slavishly transposed. At the outset the HBO series was a major influence for the writers, but since then our series has evolved.”
Filming takes place from September to December, in France and Spain.
