The winners of the 19th Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival, which took place in Belgrade from May 20th to 26th, were announced at the closing ceremony.

Among the nine films in the International Competition, the Best Film Award was presented to Srđan Kovačević for his documentary The Thing to Be Done (Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia). Set in Ljubljana, Slovenia, the film looks at the Workers’ Defence Bureau, an organisation which helps the vulnerable: workers, the unemployed, people with disabilities, pensioners and migrants.

In the Serbian Competition, the Best Film Award went to Miloš Jaćimović’s Sunset (Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro) while Ivana Todorović’s The Divine Feminine received the Best Cinematography Award and a Special Mention.

Beldocs is one of the largest documentary film festivals in the Balkans. Since its first year in 2008 it has created a space where major social issues are addressed through a rich programme of documentaries.
