SERBIA / A Serbian film, “Guardians of the Formula”, in French cinemas

L’Affaire Vinča Curie

Dragan Bjelogrlić’s feature film Guardians of the Formula was released in French cinemas on June 5th.

Based on Goran Milašinović’s bestselling novel The Case of Vinča, and set in October 1958 during the Cold War, the film is about Yugoslav scientists who were severely irradiated during a secret mission. They were thought to have been working on a nuclear bomb. Sent to France, they were treated by Professor Mathé at the Institut Curie – a race against time to save them.

Released in Serbia last year the film was a great success, grossing €1.16 million with 253,889 admissions.

Dragan Bjelogrlić is a director, actor and producer. He is recognized as one of Serbia’s leading artists. He has appeared in nearly 40 films, 20 television shows and 11 plays. In 2021, with Zoran Lisinac, he co-directed Toma, the most viewed film in Serbia with more than 600,000 admissions.

Co-produced by Serbia, Slovenia and North Macedonia, Guardians of the Formula is distributed in France by L’Atelier Distribution.
