MOROCCO / Morocco at MIFA

Festival Annecy 2024

Morocco was the only Arab country present at the International Animated Film Market (MIFA), part of the 48th Annecy International Festival of Animated Film. The pavilion was run by the Centre Cinématographique Marocain (CCM).

CCM’s presence at MIFA gave people working in animation in Morocco the chance to show their film and audiovisual productions and to benefit from the cooperation and co-production opportunities offered. There were several young directors present with their projects.

The Market had selected three short films: Harun & Mamun by Jihane Joypaul, The Adventures of Kawtar by Kawtar Waddi and The Storm by Kanza Belali, plus Sofia El Khyari’s feature The Birds of Shehrazade and Aziz Oumoussa’s documentary Lala Soulika.

Several production studios were represented (Never Seen Studio, Aartcoustic Studio, etc.) plus two public television channels, Al Aoula and 2M. The Institut Supérieur des Métiers de l’Audiovisuel et de Cinéma (ISMAC) was also there, together with the Meknes International Festival of Animated Film (FICAM).
