ROMANIA / Call for candidates for the 24th Astra Film Festival

Submissions are now open for the 24th Astra Film Festival, taking place in Sibiu, Romania, from October 16th to 22nd 2017. The festival is organized by Astra Film (Centre for Documentary and Visual Education), the National Museum Astra in Sibiu, and the Astra Film Foundation.

The aim of the festival is to encourage cultural and inter-cultural understanding and to present the public with an intimate and detailed portrait of the human condition.

The AFF focusses on documentary films, it is a window for international documentary film production and for the latest documentary films from Eastern European and Romania.

As well as the four competitive sections (International, Central and Eastern Europe, Romania and Student), the festival includes non-competitive categories: Panorama, Made in Romania, thematic programmes, special screenings and a variety of parallel events. In 2009, the festival created Astra Film Junior, a documentary film education programme for students, unique in Romania.

The call for submissions is open, the deadline for registration is April 20th 2017.
