MOROCCO / Filming “Desert storm” in Morocco

Desert Storm, a new feature by Chinese director Dante Lam, is being filmed in several Moroccan towns until the end of May.

The inhabitants of Rabat have seen their town centre transformed into scenes of war, with military vehicles and extras dressed in battledress.

According to executive producer Zakaria Alaoui, Desert Storm is one of the biggest Chinese productions filmed in Morocco (a 16 week shooting schedule in several regions of the Kingdom, employing 400 Moroccan and 300 Chinese technicians).

After Casablanca and Rabat, filming will continue in Ouarzazate, Erfoud, Errachidia, Merzouga, Rissani, Salé, Marrakech, Tahanaout, El Haouz, Kenitra, Agadir and Tangier. The actor Jackie Chan is reported to have a leading role in the film.

Morocco is hosting more and more foreign films, recently for example Vikings, the series for Canada’s History Channel and Raees, a Bollywood film with Shah Rukh Khan.
