MOROCCO / Pathé opens a cinema in Rabat

Following the opening of its first cinema in Casablanca, the French distributor Pathé continues its expansion across Morocco by opening a new cinema in Rabat.

The Pathé Dar Essalam, named after the market in which it is located, offers four auditoriums ranging from 80 seats to 23 for VIP screenings. The most expensive tickets can cost up to 250 dirhams (approximately €23), but Frédéric Godfroid, Managing Director of Pathé Morocco, says: “Our aim is to keep this cultural establishment accessible, meaning we haven’t exceeded the symbolic thresholds, with a full price of 95 dirhams (€9) in the standard auditorium, a student price of 70 dirhams (€6.50) and 60 dirhams (€6.50) for children.

The new cinema is the result of a partnership between Pathé and the Marjane Group to develop a cinema network in major Moroccan cities. As Frédéric Godfroid says: “this opening in Rabat illustrates our ambition to continue developing Pathé in Morocco through human-scale complexes, perfectly integrated into their surroundings, without compromising the quality of the cinematic experience.
