After the announcement by Sarim Fassi Fihri, head of the Centre Cinématographique Marocain, that in 2014 there had been record investment in film and television productions shot in Morocco, “The Guardian” newspaper claimed that Morocco is ranked among the Top Ten film locations in the world, just behind Vancouver (Canada) and ahead of New Zealand. In the article, the newspaper says that “Morocco is now the first choice for film-makers looking for Middle Eastern landscapes, much in demand right now with the war in Iraq”, illustrating the point with a photograph of Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” being filmed in Rabat.
