
Moroccan director Zhor Fassi-Fihri has begun filming her new feature film, L’Homme des Signes.
Co-written with Jérôme Cohen-Olivar, this dramatised biography retraces the life of Mehdi Qotbi (born 1951), a painter and the president of the National Museum Foundation. The film-makers chose to combine real and fictional elements to tell his story.
Filming will take place over six weeks in several Moroccan cities and will then continue for two weeks in Paris and Toulouse. The film has received a 4 million dirham (€380,000) grant from the Production Support Fund.
Zhor Fassi-Fihri is an independent Moroccan producer / director. After studying in France she worked for Canal + and then launched a news channel in Paris dedicated to Africa. Returning to Morocco in 2015 she founded the production company Z Films and in 2022 directed her first feature The Moderator.
