The 8th Cine por Mujeres is being prepared in Madrid and will be held from October 28th to November 9th.
“Since 2018,” the press release states “Cine por Mujeres has established itself as a platform for presenting films directed by women (not FOR women or ABOUT women).” The festival wants to promote the work of international female directors and contribute to the fight against gender inequality in the film industry.
This year the organisers are planning a programme of nearly 70 feature films – Spanish and international – to be screened in 17 partner cinemas across the city. Ten of them will be presented in the International Competition and 12 in the Spanish Competition. A FOCUS section will also show the work of French film-makers, in partnership with the Institut français in Madrid.
In addition to the screenings there will be professional and educational meetings. Round tables, masterclasses and discussions will focus on the role of women at all stages of film production.
