Launched in 2011, MEDITALENTS is a support platform for young Mediterranean film-makers. Based on the Lab Med and Lab Doc workshops, MEDITALENTS invites experienced film professionals and screenwriters to help young talents in the writing, production and showing of their projects.
Sponsored by director Claire Simon, the 4th Lab Doc welcomes 9 participants from the Mediterranean region. All have made one or two feature-length documentaries. They will participate in the three Lab Doc sessions, the first of which was held from May 8th to 12th in Marseille.
Among the selected projects is Samia Al Kayar’s Dans quel monde tu vis Canetti. The film follows a psychiatrist, Cyrille Canetti, counselling patients recently released from prison. Also shown, Sonia Kichah’s Chambre à soi, which focuses on five young Tunisian women aged 28 to 38, living together in a residential building. Coming to work in the country’s largest city, far from their families and reproachful eyes, they are singled out by the conservative-minded and face rejection fuelled by prejudices about their way of life.
