Beirut-based production company Abbout Productions, headed by Georges Schoucair and Myriam Sassine, will receive the Raimondo Rezzonico Award at the 78th Locarno Film Festival. The event will be held from August 6th to 16th.
Presented by the municipality of Minusio, this award recognises exceptional work by independent producers. This year it celebrates Abbout Production’s contribution to Arab and Lebanese cinema.
Founded in 1998, Abbout Productions has helped many Arab and Lebanese artists and film-makers, playing a key role in shaping Lebanon’s independent film landscape. The company has produced several award-winning films which have been screened at major international festivals, including Venice, Berlin and Cannes. Among the most recent, Myriam El Hajj’s documentary Diaries from Lebanon was presented in the Panorama section of the 2024 Berlinale.
Georges Schoucair and Myriam Sassine have recently expanded their borders with international co-productions.
