With screenings from July 26th to August 3rd, the 7th Amman International Film Festival will present 82 films from 27 countries.
Eight films are featured in the Arab feature film competition, notably Amel Guellati’s Where the Wind Comes From (2024). This Tunisian production is about a rebellious 19-year-old, Alyssa, and her friend who decide to make a road trip to Djerba to participate in a competition.
In the documentary section seven films are competing for awards, including Birds of War by Janay Boulos and Abd Alkader Habak (Lebanon, Syria), Habibi Hussein by Alex Bakri (Palestine) and My Father and Qaddafi (Libya) by Jihan K. This last documentary follows the film-maker’s journey to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of her father, Mansur Rashid, a peaceful opponent of Muammar Gaddafi.
A selection of 20 Arab short films and a competition with seven international (non-Arab) feature films will also be presented. There will also be meetings and workshops for film industry professionals.
