JORDAN / Jordan boosts its tax incentives for film productions

RFC

In order to attract more foreign film productions, the Jordanian government has enhanced its tax incentives.

Last year the Jordanian government increased the cash rebate for local expenses to 45%, managed by the Royal Film Commission (RFC). Foreign productions can also benefit from automatic exemptions from Jordan’s 16% value-added tax and 10% withholding tax. This translates into potential savings of up to 56% of eligible costs.

Among the new features the minimum expenditure required to apply for a rebate has been lowered to $250,000 and capped at $5.25 million per project. Higher caps may be considered after reviewing the application. The RFC has also simplified administrative procedures to make permits and approvals easier to obtain.

In another effort to attract foreign productions the Olivewood Film Studio complex, which opened in 2023, is also developing new international collaborations: in 2025 it signed a strategic partnership with the US-based Shadowbox studios and now it’s trying to strengthen its links with Asia.
