JORDAN / The 6th Amman International Film Festival in preparation

Amman International Film Festival

Awal Film has announced details of the 6th Amman International Film Festival which will be held from July 2nd to 10th.

This year’s theme, A World Unscripted, will focus on the unforeseeable aspects of story-telling. In the words of Festival President Princess Rym Ali: “This year’s Festival embraces the unpredictable and the deeply human in the midst of a volatile and rapidly changing world.…Life doesn’t follow a script; and recent years have certainly been unscripted. That’s why this year we are paying tribute to storytellers who dare explore and narrate moments which seem more lived than written.”

This year 60 films from 23 countries will be presented in several programmes, including four competitive sections: Arab Fiction Feature Films, Arab Documentary Feature Films, Arab Short Films and Non-Arab Films.

Seven films are being screened in the documentary competition, including A Frown Gone Mad by Omar Mismar (Lebanon), Abo Zaabal 89 by Bassam Mortada (Egypt), and Time Out 22 by Ali Kazwini (Syria).

A new programme, Countries of the Year, has been introduced this year. It will highlight films made in a specific country, with Ireland being chosen to inaugurate this initiative.
