Jordan / Filming starts for the series “Talal Street”

The Jordanian Arab Telemedia Group has announced the start of filming for its new series Talal Street, timed to coincide with the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Jordan’s creation.

Innovative and daring in concept, Talal Street is planned to run for 9 seasons of 10 episodes. Set in Amman, it opens in 1953 during the reign of King Hussein bin Talal and ends with his death in 1999. The story focuses on the capital’s socio-economic development and more particularly on the cultural changes which take place in Talal Street over the course of 4 decades. These changes are shown through the eyes of its multi-cultural inhabitants.

For Talal Al Awamleh, producer and CEO of Arab Telemedia Group, this series “reflects an essential era in the history of Amman and Jordan as a whole, because for decades Amman was a safe place for Jordanians and Arabs. It was also an example of openness to other cultures which reflected the lives of the people living there. All this makes it essential to create a story worthy of Jordan’s capital, Amman.

Producing this ambitious project is Arab Telemedia Group’s largest investment. Written by screenwriter Mustafa Saleh, known for his work on The Stranger’s Promise and Scent of Fire, this period production required the input of a research team led by Talal Al-Awamleh. Director Mohammad Zuhair Rajab explains that every human and technical resource has been mobilised to make the series. Filming is planned in several locations in Jordan and many Jordanian and Arab actors are in the cast.

Active for thirty years, Arab Telemedia Group has become one of the most important audiovisual production companies in the Arab world. Based in Amman, Jordan, it also has a branch in Dubai.
