ITALY / The 28th Cartoons on the Bay

The 28th Cartoons on the Bay was held from May 29th to June 2nd in Pescara.

Cartoons on the Bay

Cartoons on the Bay is the major Italian showcase for animation and for the children’s entertainment industry. Promoted by RAI and organized by RAI Com, the festival has been bringing Italian and international players together through a vast programme since 1996.

Over these three days, the festival offered a competition of animated feature films from every horizon: The Animal Kingdom by Thomas Cailley (France), Sultana’s Dream by Isabel Herguera (Spain), ARF by Simona Cornacchia and Anna Russo (Italy) and Florentine Night by Sotir Gelev (Bulgaria).

Among the other events, the Pitch Me Contest, specifically for young Italian talents, presented and rewarded the best projects in development. The first prize went to the Zilia project, created by Marialuisa Fiori, Sara Cuperlo, Licia Fiorentini, Chiara Musa and Mariana Califano.

This 28th edition also celebrated Spain. There were several discussions and round tables, including a presentation by Yago Fandiño, director of ClanTV and head of children’s content at RTVE, outlining their latest productions.
