ITALY / Tension in the air filming “Gomorra”

GomorraThe Italian series “Gomorra”, adapted from Roberto Saviano’s novel, has just started filming its second season. However, several districts and  suburbs of Naples such as Giuliano, Acerra and Afragola do not welcome the filming of this series about the Neapolitan Mafia, the Camorra. Thus, as the newspaper Le Monde said: “the mayors and administrators of these local authorities have told Cattleya, the company producing “Gomorra”, they would not let their misery and decay be used as a backdrop for the second season currently being filmed.”

I love the series,” Domenico Tuccillo, Afragola’s chief magistrate, explained to the press, “but I have to be attentive to the reputation of my town and its inhabitants. They went to great lengths fighting the Mafia, both in citizens’ groups and through the municipal council. They’re already victims of the images peddled by the media. That’s enough.
