La Rete degli Spettatori is an Italian association founded in 2011. It was created to give cinema audiences greater choice by giving them access to a greater diversity of films. It is supported by, among others, the Italian Ministries of Culture and Education.
This year the association aims to show films which people may have missed because they failed to get wide distribution. There are six drama films in the selection and four documentaries (to be chosen, the film must have had cinema release (but with fewer than 100 copies) between June and November 2016). Thanks to the association’s support, the public will be able to see Marco Danieli’s La Ragazza del Mondo and Michele Vannuci’s Il più grande sogno. Some of the films chosen have, however, already been screened at a major Italian film festival, such as Turin, Rome or Venice.
