Ernesto Pagano‘s new documentary, “Napolislam”, was released in Italian cinemas on December 2nd. Originally scheduled for November 25th, the film’s release was changed by the distributors Uci Cinemas after the attacks in Paris.

The director follows the daily life of ten Neapolitans who have converted to Islam – an unemployed person, a young girl in love, a rapper, a father – people who have found a response to social injustice, despair, our consumer society in the Qur’an. But how to reconcile Neapolitan culture with Islam, governed by a set of rules? Through these stories, Ernesto Pagano gives an unusual image of Naples.

During the last week of November “Napolislam” was presented at numerous festivals, including the Amsterdam Documentary Festival and the Carthage Film Festival.
