Canal Plus announced it has bought the Israeli series “False Flag” (Shkufim) for broadcast in 2016.
Created by Amit Cohen and Maria Feldman, directed by Oded Ruskin, “False Flag” is a spy thriller in eight 52-minute episodes. The story follows “five Israeli citizens who find themselves caught up in international espionage. They discover, through the media, that they are the principal suspects in the kidnapping of the Iranian Defence Minister, on a secret visit to Moscow. Despite their denial, no one believes them. The Israeli government and Mossad deny any involvement in the disappearance and point the finger at these 5 suspects. Even their close family begin to wonder who they really are.”
This series was given a pre-release showing at the 2015 Berlin Film Festival and shared the Audience Award for Best Series at the French 2015 Séries Mania festival.
