FRANCE / URTI launches its call for documentaries

With the support of UNESCO and many international broadcasting organizations, URTI is organizing the Grand Prix for Author’s Documentary. In the television world this award has a very high reputation, due to the large number of participants and the quality of the selected programmes.

Created in 1981 by Armand Lanoux, a French writer who was vice-president of URTI, the Grand Prix for Author’s Documentary is for documentaries which stand out not only for their editorial and technical quality, but also for the originality of their subject and point of view expressed. It encourages films advocating tolerance and mutual respect, peace, friendship and understanding between peoples.

The competition is open to all public service and private television companies as well as associations and institutions dedicated to broadcasting, with a maximum of two programmes per organization.

A pre-selection jury chooses ten programmes to go forward into the final stage. All the finalists receive promotional support to ensure their international distribution.

There are four awards, including the Grand Prix URTI (Arman Trophy) which, with a cash prize of $500, is awarded to the director of the best documentary.

The deadline to send in applications: Tuesday June 18th  2019.
