On June 17th the French public radio RFI (France Médias Monde) launched a new web-site for those wishing to learn the French language: RFI Savoirs (http://savoirs.rfi.fr).
Aimed at the general public as much as education professionals, the site offers “keys to understanding the world in French”, presented as themed dossiers going deeper into current affairs issues treated by RFI and France 24. A selection of programmes, articles and other content are presented in French, with navigation aids available in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Chinese and Arabic (Portuguese, Vietnamese, Khmer and Persian will follow soon).
RFI Savoirs also provides educational tools for teachers: quizzes on current affairs, fact sheets and radio workshops so students can make their own news reports in French.
The web-site, which took two years to build, was launched with the support of twenty partners including the European Commission, the Institut Français, the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie, TV5 Monde, the French Education Ministry and the Foreign Affairs Ministry as well as major players in French education.
