FRANCE / Call for films for the 23rd PriMed

PriMed – the International Awards for Mediterranean Documentaries and Reportages has launched its call for films for the 23rd edition.

PriMed is open to all independent film-makers, directors, producers and broadcasters who, through their programmes or films, help to create a better understanding of the countries of the Mediterranean region in its broadest sense, from the Atlantic coast to the Black Sea.

The audiovisual works submitted should deal with topics related to current problems, culture, heritage, societies and the lives of the men and women living in Mediterranean countries. The works must not contain advertising or propaganda.

Each film can only compete in one of the following categories:
– Mediterranean Issues
– Mediterranean Memory
– First Film
– Art, Heritage and Cultures
– Mediterranean Short

The competition has three phases:
– January 2019: call for applications – deadline for registration and sending films: March 31st  2019.
– May / June 2019: an international selection committee chooses the films for the final phase.
– November / December 2019, the final phase: an international jury selects the award-winning films while a jury of young people from across the Mediterranean region choose their best film. Together with public screenings, meetings, and finally the award ceremony.

There are six awards for the films in competition. Broadcsating awards may also be given by a television company, at the sole discretion of their representative, chosen from the films selected for the final phase. The subsequent distribution of a film winning a broadcasting award will be subject to a specific agreement between the broadcaster and the film-maker.

Registration is free and can be done online on the PriMed website: https://primed.tv/

The deadline for entry and registration of films is March 31st 2019.
