On March 7th Cinéfondation, the Cannes Film Festival foundation for finding new talent, issued the list of film projects chosen for its workshop on May 13th to 19th as part of the festival.
For the 12th consecutive year, directors and producers will have the opportunity of meeting potential partners to help them complete their projects.
The 2016 selection has a very Mediterranean tone since half the 15 projects selected are the work of film-makers from the Mediterranean region. Turkey has two representatives: Kaan Müjdeci with “Iguana Tokyo” and Rezan Yesilbas with “The Boarding School”. Algeria (Amin Sidi-Boumediène with “Abou Leila”), Spain (Jose Ortuño with “Animas”), France (Eric Cherrière with “Neither Gods Nor Masters”), Israel (David Volach with “Death In Bed”), Italy (Danilo Caputo with “Sow the Wind”), and Syria (Gaya Jiji with “My Favorite Fabric”) are also represented in the selection.
Of the 171 projects promoted by the Cinéfondation workshop since its creation in 2005, 126 have had theatrical release, and 18 others are currently in pre-production.
