This year’s CineHorizontes will be held in Marseille from November 5th to 13th. Since 2001 this Spanish film festival has shown French audiences the wealth and diversity of Iberian cinema.
The festival is organized around various events :
An official competition with different categories, chaired by a jury of professionals. Several awards are given, including Best Film, Best Documentary, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Actress.
Press conferences, film screenings, concerts and master classes are also on the programme.
CineHorizontes’ funding comes from several sources – some political (the Conseil régional du Sud, the Departmental Council of the Bouches-du-Rhône, the Marseille town hall, the Spanish Embassy, the Spanish Ministry of Culture, etc.), some cultural (Spanish Cultural Action, the Malaga Film Festival) and some educational (the Cinema and Audiovisual School of Madrid, the Institute of Political Science at Aix-Marseille).
Since 2013 this Spanish film festival has had an additional component: a scriptwriting residency. Conceived to encourage Spanish creativity, this residency is open to screenwriters or directors of Spanish or Spanish-American nationality. The winner will be introduced during the festival, for example by being invited to be a member of the jury.
The deadline to send in your short film is June 15th 2020.
The deadline to apply for the writing residency is June 17th 2020.
All information concerning registration can be found on the festival web-site.
