The results of the first evaluation session of the Council of Europe’s Pilot Programme for Series Co-production have been announced. Seven co-productions will be supported for a total of €3 million.
Among the titles selected, the Greater Adria series (Croatia, Italy, Germany and Belgium) will receive €500,000. It is the first series co-production involving Croatia and Italy.
Created and written by Nebojša Taraba and Simona Nobile, this political series focusses on a vast international conspiracy around Europe’s energy. As a pan-European ecological party campaigns to ban all oil and gas exploitation in the Adriatic Sea, an Italian scientist is found dead in Rijeka (Croatia). An Italian and a Croatian police inspector lead the investigation.
Also selected, Favàritx (Spain, Portugal) will receive €250,000. The series scenario by Lluis Illescas is about an investigation into murders committed by a serial killer. Favàritx is the first drama series set on Minorca.
Taking all seven projects together, 64% of the creators are women and ten languages are spoken – national, regional and minority.
The complete list of subsidised projects is available on the Council of Europe website.
