EUROPE / FRANCE TV, RAI and ZDF developing a CGI-animated series The Saddle Club

The French public broadcaster France Télévisions, Rai (Italy) and ZDF (Germany) have commissioned an animated adaptation of The Saddle Club, a series of children’s books.

Created by Bonnie Bryant, The Saddle Club books were published between 1988 and 2001 and have sold 16 million copies worldwide. They are about a group of friends who go to a riding club during their summer holidays. The books were previously adapted for television between 2001 and 2009.

Produced by Frog Box (France) and Red Monk Studio (Italy), the series will have twenty six 22-minute episodes, all directed by Karin Kempf.

According to Pedro Citaristi, CEO and producer of Red Monk, “The production launch of The Saddle Club is a significant milestone. This iconic property deserves a new lease of life that speaks to today’s generations. Working with partners of the calibre of Frog Box, Superights and our European broadcasters allows us to further raise our creative ambitions. Our goal is to deliver a modern, cinematic series which remains faithful to the spirit of the books.”
