The El Gouna Film Festival is launching a project to support the development and marketing of Arab television series – the CineGouna Series.
Initiated by writer/producer Mariam Naoum, CineGouna Series is a new professional platform to develop projects for Arab series and then connect them with regional and international markets.
The initiative stemmed from Mariam Naoum’s own experience: “There is a wealth of Arab talent capable of creating series with strong and original stories” she explains, “but many projects lack a specialised development ecosystem and genuine market access. This is where the idea for CineGouna Series came from – not just a development programme, but a comprehensive space connecting writing, development, understanding the needs of platforms and audiences, marketing and direct engagement with industry professionals.”
It will be a 6-week online programme with project leaders receiving support in developing their series bibles or pilot episodes.
During the El Gouna festival, which will be held from October 15th to 23rd, participants will take part in project presentations, themed round tables and networking activities with content managers, distributors and international development specialists.
