Submissions may now be sent in for the 6th festival of African film, held in Luxor from March 16th to 22nd 2017.
Any African film by an African film-maker and produced in 2016, regardless of its length, can compete. There are three sections: feature films, feature-length documentaries and short films.
There is also an international competition dedicated to films about freedom and Human Rights. Film-makers from any continent can participate in this.
The application deadline is December 15th 2016. Click here to submit a film.
The festival’s organiser, the Independent Shabab Foundation, has given us a preview of next year’s programme: Morocco will be the guest of honour, but tributes will also be paid to the Mauritanian director Abderrahmane Sissako (“La vie sur Terre”, “Timbuktu”), to the Egyptian film-maker Yousry Nasrallah (“Femmes du Caire”, “Après la bataille”) and to Egyptian actress Nelly Karim, seen in Mohamed Diab’s “Les femmes du bus 678” and most recently “Clash”.
