The 22nd Cyprus Film Days International Festival, the island’s largest film festival, will run from April 12th to 20th.
This year’s international competition will have 11 feature films, 5 of which are Cypriot co-productions. Among them Sofia Exarchou’s Animal (Greece) about seasonal workers at an island resort preparing for the tourist season; Emilija Gasic’s 78 Days (Serbia) about the daily lives of three young sisters during the Balkan War; The Teacher (Palestine) by Farah Nabulsi about a teacher involved in the Palestinian resistance.
In the national competition there are 4 films: Africa Star by Adonis Floridas, Detached House by Ioakim Mylonas, Embryo Larva Butterfly by Kyros Papavassiliou and Five Shilling Nylon by Christos Shopahas. These productions are also entered in the festival’s international competition.
Finally the out-of-competition Viewfinder section presents several international productions reflecting current international film-making, such as the Romanian Radu Jude’s Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World.
