Limassol’s Rialto cinema opens its summer season with a series of outdoor screenings. Its managers have decided to create a drive-in from June 17th until the end of July.
The programming is made up of eight very different films. All will be screened in their original language with subtitles in Greek and English.
Several Mediterranean films are included:
Like a cat on a highway by Riccardo Milani, Italy, 2017: two people with very different characters are forced to spend time together when their children fall in love. Presented as archetypes, the central characters epitomise Rome’s polarised social classes, each with their own moral values.
Siege on Liperti Street by Stavros Pamballis, Cyprus / Greece, 2019: the film is about a family living in poverty between Cyprus’ Greek and Turkish sectors. In addition to coping with the national and financial crisis, the family is scorned and ignored by the public services. The film won five awards at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival.
La Belle Époque by Nicolas Bedos, France, 2019: “Victor, a cynical, sixty-something man, finds his life revitalised when Antoine, a clever businessman, offers him a new form of distraction: by mixing theatrical devices with historical reconstruction, Antoine’s company allows customers to immerse themselves in the period of their choice. Victor chooses to relive the most important week of his life: the moment when, 40 years earlier, he discovered true love.”
There will be two types of tickets: an outdoor ticket (€8 per person) and a drive-in ticket (€16 per car). In order to facilitate public access and control, tickets for cars can only be purchased up to 24 hours before the screening.
