EKRAN + is a European professional training programme for directors, helping professionals to develop their film projects. First, by focusing on the script. Then, by working on the audiovisual aspects. And finally by discussing how to get the best out of the other professionals during a shoot.

Each participating project has a creative team of director, screenwriter, director of photography and producer.
EKRAN + provides three sessions, each lasting between 4 and 9 days. The first session will start in March (2nd to 5th) and will be for the directors and screenwriters. Its purpose is to prepare the participants for the shoot.

Two of the nine projects selected are Croatian :

The Graduates by Hrvoje Mabić. His first drama feature is about maturity and the transition to adulthood. Milčo’s personal tragedies, which are part of his daily life, are closely linked to the American presidential elections. This feature film benefited from a first script-writing workshop at the 2019 Zagreb Film Festival. It is written and directed by Hrvoje Mabić and produced by the Croatian company Fade In.

The Bear Peak by Filip Filković. Through this adventure film, with elements of a thriller, the director traces the story of two brothers, Rok and David. David, the younger brother, has been blind since childhood because of his brother, Rok. This has caused guilt and resentment which continues to haunt their relationship. Despite this, they decide to spend a weekend together in the mountains. There they will have to relearn how to trust each other if they want to survive.
In 2019 The Bear Peak benefited from the Croatian Broadcasting Centre’s Re-act Workshop, which aims to develop new audiovisual projects and encourage international co-productions. Filip Filković is the film’s director, writing the screenplay with Dora Šustić. The film is being produced by the Croatian company, Antitalent.
