SPAIN / Agreement between the Academia de las artes y las Ciencias Cinematográficas de España and the Instituto Cervantes

On February 14th the president of the Spanish Academy of Cinema Arts and Sciences, Mariano Barroso, and the director of the Cervantes Institute, Luis Garcia Montero, formalized a collaboration agreement to promote Spanish films in the Institute’s branches – which are active in 80 cities in 45 different countries.

The two institutions are following the same path,” said Mariano Barroso. “This cooperation agreement will promote Spain beyond our borders and give the country the value it deserves.”

As part of this new agreement, various events have already been announced. The first, the screening of three films with Pepa Flores, winner of the 2019 Goya Prize. Different seasons of films, meetings with directors and actors in the Institute’s local branches are also planned.

This is not the first time the Cervantes Institute and the Academy have collaborated. Since 2005 they have worked together, in particular to publicise the Goya Awards.
