CROATIA / The animated short “Eeva” preselected for the Oscars

Eeva

Out of an initial list of ninety three, Eeva, a Croatian animated short directed by Lucija Mrzljak and Morten Tšinakov, is one of 15 international films preselected to compete for an Oscar in the Best Animated Short Film category.

Producer Draško Ivezić attributes this success to the quality of Croatian animation and the Croatian Audiovisual Centre’s continued support for high-quality projects.

This short film is about a young woman, Eeva, confronted with the loss of her partner. Since its premiere at PÖFF Shorts, it has made its mark in more than 70 festivals worldwide, accumulating awards such as Annecy’s Alexeïeff – Parker Award and Best Film at Animafest Zagreb.

Being preselected for an Oscar confirms the film’s international reputation and underlines the quality of Croatian animation. The final short-list will be announced on January 23rd. The ceremony will be held on March 10th.
