BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA/ The Sarajevo Film Festival announces its nominated series

The 29th Sarajevo Film Festival, which will take place from August 11th to 18th, has announced the 19 television series nominated for the Heart of Sarajevo Awards. There are 14 awards in all.

Those chosen fall into two categories: the first is for drama series with 8 awards and the second for comedies with 6 awards. The competition chooses the best series broadcast between April 1st2022 and April 30th2023 and produced in a Balkan country (Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Kosovo and Slovenia).

For Jovan Marjanović, Festival director, “this year marks a new high-point in the quality of the region’s drama series and comedies. This year’s nominations demonstrate that television series production is rapidly maturing. The number and quality of series produced, as well as the growing participation of more and more countries producing regular series, has aroused the interest of hundreds of film professionals in the region for this third consecutive year.”

Among the many titles selected is a Serbian series about a talented young football player, Golden Boy, which has been nominated in 7 categories, including Best Drama Series. Among the comedy series, Mum and Dad Are Playing War 2 (Bosnia and Herzegovina) is nominated in 6 categories.

The jury is made up of more than 450 professionals, collectively deciding which series to reward. The award ceremony will take place during this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival.
