ALGERIA / The first Rencontre cinématographique Rusicada

Rencontre cinématographique Rusicada

The first Rusicada Film Festival ran from June 21st to 25th in Skikda.

Organized by the Skikda Wilaya Culture Directorate, the festival hopes to make the city a film hub in eastern Algeria. This first edition, themed From Writing to Screen, focused on cinema through its literary and screenwriting dimensions.

Over the festival’s five days there were screenings, debates, and workshops. Several Algerian films were on the programme, including Khaled El Kebbich’s Min Ajlik, Abdenour Zahzah’s Frantz Fanon and Chawki Boukaf’s Olivia. There was also a tribute to director Mohamed Hazourli.

The festival was also an opportunity to reflect collectively on contemporary issues in the audiovisual sector, with masterclasses and conferences on AI and the environmental impact.
