It took 30 years, but the Annaba Festival of Mediterranean Film is well and truly back. Formerly known as “Mediterranean Film Days”, the event will run from December 3rd to 9th in the coastal city of Annaba at the Azzedine Medjoubi Theatre and at the Mohamed Boudiaf Palace of Culture, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture. At one time the Cinémathèque Le Majestic was going to host the festival but delays to the renovation work made the organisers change their plans.
The international jury will distribute 5 Awards, including the Gold Annab, to the best films in competition. Posthumous tributes will be made to Omar Sharif, Kulthum and Theo Angelopoulos. The singer Khaled, who won the Golden Osella at the 1993 Venice Film Festival for composing the music for Bertrand Blier’s film “Un, deux, trois, soleil”, has been invited to receive the honours of the festival.
The programme will be completed by various events, including a round table on illegal immigration and emigration.
