From December 4th to 11th Brussels hosts the fifteenth Brussels Festival of Mediterranean Film at the Botanique, at the Bozar, and for the first time at the Cinéma Aventure. 70’s films from 20 countries are included in this year’s programme. The opening film will be Jonas Carpignano‘s “Mediterranea”, showing the dangers and tragedies of illegal sea crossings. Screenings of Leyla Bouzid‘s “A peine j’ouvre les yeux”, Merzak Allouache‘s “Madame Courage” and Robert Guédiguian‘s “Une histoire de fou” are among the festival highlights, which also offers an opportunity to discover or rediscover Deniz Gamze Ergüven‘s “Mustang”, Nabil Ayouch’s “Much Loved” and Laura Bispuri’s “Vierge sous serment”.
Much of this year’s festival focusses on migration, with four films on the subject and a multimedia exhibition. A focus on Turkish cinema is offered as part of the Europalia festival. Short films, documentaries, concerts and other festivities round out the festival programme.
