ALGERIA / After a delay, the Annaba Festival of Mediterranean Film announces its dates

AMFF

Initially scheduled for November 2023, the Annaba Mediterranean Film Festival was postponed by the Ministry of Culture and Arts, in solidarity with the Palestinians. The new dates have just been announced: the 4th edition will be held from April 24th to 30th.

The postponement has meant some changes to the programme. As the festival director Mohamed Allal explains: “organizing the festival in April is a good time for new productions. Consequently we are altering the programming to include films produced in 2024.”

For this edition there are 70 films from 17 countries – features, documentaries and shorts. The organizers have announced some titles, including Sara Nacer’s The Desert Rocker (Algeria), Carmen by Valérie Bulhagiar (Malta), Ladj Ly’s Bâtiment 5 (France) and Nicola Zambelli’s Sarura, the future is an unknown place (Italy).

Apart from screenings, there will be workshops, training conferences and a competition for people with a project in development.
