On November 15th Türksat removed 13 radio and television channels from its satellite package, all of which had been condemned by the private operator Digitürk in late October because of their “litigious content”.

The channels in question are all owned by the Samanyolu Media Group (Samanyolu Haber, Mehtap TV, Ebru TV). In October Türksat, a public satellite television operator, ceased working with the group. The Director of Samanyolu, Hidayet Karaca, has been in custody since early 2015 for allegedly “belonging to a terrorist group”.
