TUNISIA / The Tunisian Federation of Amateur Film-makers will be present at the UNICA Congress

The Fédération tunisienne des cinéastes amateurs (FTCA) will participate in UNICA’s 86th International Amateur Film Congress, which will be held in Lugano, Switzerland, from August 30th to September 4th.

UNICA (Union Internationale du Cinéma) is an independent international organisation and a member of UNESCO’s International Council for Cinema, Television and Audiovisual Communication. Its role is to promote video and film while supporting international cultural cooperation.

Each year through a programme of 79 films the Congress highlights films made by independent and amateur film-makers. This year two Tunisian films have been selected: Wed Ttrabelsia by Wadii Klaii from the FTCA club in Hammam-Lif, and Human by Eya Belhaj Rhouma from the FTCA club in Bardo.

The FTCA, originally called the Association des Jeunes Cinéastes Tunisiens when it was founded in 1962, teaches aspiring film-makers film production and produces short films every year. It has more than 200 members in 16 clubs spread across Tunisia.
