Despite the curfew imposed in Tunisia after the attack of November 24th, the Carthage Film Festival managed to run its course as scheduled. The audience responded well, despite the tense atmosphere, as evidenced by the success of “Much Loved”, attracting 1,600 spectators for its screening and winning the Jury Prize.

Another Moroccan film, Mohamed Mouftakir‘s “L’Orchestre des Aveugles” (The Orchestra of the Blind), also did well at the awards on November 28th, winning the Tanit d’Or . The Tunisian director Bouzid Leyla won four awards, including the Tanit de Bronze for “A peine j’ouvre les yeux”.

Algerian cinema also won four Awards, including Best Actor for Adlane Djemi in Merzak Allouache‘s latest film, “Madame Courage”. Hassen Ferhani took the DocumentaryTanit d’Or for “Dans ma tête un rond-point” (In my head a roundabout), while Yasmin Fedda’s documentary “Queens of Syria”, about a group of Syrian refugees giving their version of “Euripides” in Jordan, received two awards.
