Kaouther Ben Hania’s The Voice of Hind Rajab won the Audience Award at the 73rd San Sebastián International Film Festival, which took place from September 19th to 27th.
Selected as Tunisia’s official submission for the 98th Academy Awards, this docudrama is about a six-year-old girl from Gaza, Hind Rajab, killed by Israeli forces in January 2024.
Trapped in a car under Israeli fire the girl made an emergency call to the Palestinian Red Crescent – and in her film Kaouther Ben Hania has used the recordings of Hind’s voice and those of the people trying to save her.
Filmed in Tunisia, the film is a co-production between Mine Films (Tunisia) and Tanit Films (France).
